What is LEED®?
LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a third-party certification program and internationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.
LEED® certification is based on total point score achieved in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development; water efficiency; energy efficiency; materials selection; indoor environmental quality.
Four possible levels of LEED® certification (Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum) accommodate a wide range of green building strategies and project-specific goals.
How building owners benefit from LEED® construction
Operating costs are reduced by improved efficiency in energy and water consumption, heat gain/loss, lighting, air circulation, indoor air quality. Maintenance and/or replacement costs are reduced over the building’s life.
Employee retention improves, with fewer sick days, lower health costs and higher productivity.
